The study intended to determine the proximate composition, caloric value, carbohydrate profile and selected minerals of the following cereal crops: Pigmented rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties (waxy-type purple rice ‘Ballatinao’ (PR) and non-waxy type red rice ‘Malagaya tapol’ (RR)), non-pigmented rice varieties (waxy type ‘Malagkit Songsong’ (MS) and non-waxy type ‘IR-64’), alday (Coix lachryma-Jobi L.) and Obatanpa x Lagkitan (OxL) variety corn (Zea mays L. ‘Los Baños Lagkitan’). Results revealed that all cereal crops exhibited a low moisture content (3.00-4.16%) which makes them store for a long time. IR-64 had the highest fat content of 4.76%, significant (p<0.05) to the values exhibited by adlay and OxL, but not significant (p>0.05) to the values of RR, PR and MS. It was also observed that adlay had the highest values for protein (11.94%), total ash (1.64%) and iron (1.59mg/100g). On the other hand, MS recorded the highest amount of fiber (3.40%) and RR contained the highest amount of zinc (1.76mg/100g) and caloric value (399.85 kcal/100g). OxL exhibited the highest carbohydrates among the samples. Carbohydrate profile analysis revealed that all rice varieties showed the highest amount (p<0.05) of starch content (84.45-85.45%) while adlay and MS recorded the highest amylose content (26.18%) and amylopectin content (76.63%), respectively. Overall, these cereal crops were shown to be rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and minerals justifying their use in diets and potential use for future product development.
BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic forced a change of perspective in mental health professionals. COVID-19 leads to a full cascade of stress responses, causing activation of the endocrine stress axis at several levels and the production of circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, as in many mental illnesses. The main objective of the study is to describe the profile of patients with COVID-19 infection attended by the Psychiatry Service during the first wave.Participants and procedureAn observational, retrospective study, based on a sample of patients who were admitted due to infection with COVID-19 was carried out. Clinical data was extracted from the medical records. 71 Individuals with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and who were attended by a psychiatrist were recruited from an inpatient hospital in the metropolitan area of Madrid, Spain.Results93% of the sample had a psychiatric diagnose, being adjustment disorder (44%) the most frequent. There was a significant association between a previous psychiatric history and a specific consultation on drug interaction with drugs used to treat COVID-19 and psychiatric medication (P=0.0036) and the use of corticosteroids and the need to prescribe psychiatric treatment (P= 0.012).ConclusionsThe current study suggests that specialists showed great concern for the possibility of drug interactions and that the use of corticosteroids predicted the need of further psychopharmacological treatment in COVID-19 patients.
The average distance _(G) of a _nite graph G = (V;E) is the average of the distances over all unordered\npairs of vertices. A minimum average distance spanning tree of G is a spanning tree of G with minimum\naverage distance. Such a tree is sometimes referred to as a minimum routing cost spanning tree. In\nthis paper, we present an e_cient algorithm to compute a minimum average distance spanning tree on\ntrapezoid graphs in O(n2) time, where n is the number of vertices of the graph.
Investor’s expectations and risk-appetite differ across various investment products. They search for “key choice attributes” in the product offerings which are closely matching their preferences. The fact that mutual funds have gained increased acceptance as an asset class for the investors is evident from the robust growth levels of asset under management of mutual funds. A wide array of schemes with varied risk-return characteristics are offered by the mutual funds to the investors. Mapping the expectations of investors today to a hierarchy of needs, the new age investor demands higher rate of returns, more transparency and flexibility to switch from one scheme to another. In this background, this study aims at tracking the key attributes of mutual fund products that influence investment decision making process of retail investors. The survey has been conducted in Bangalore city during July-September 2011. Data for the study was collected through a questionnaire from a sample of 120 retail investors. Factor analysis has been used for data analysis.
There are many factores that matters when it comes to how peple cope with a traumatic event. There also exist several types of reactions that may arise in people that have experienced traumatic stress. The different parts in this article describes first the types of reactions one can find in people that has been exposed to traumatic stress. The last part explains the characteristic contents and possible courses of development for these types of reactions.
The aim of the study was to assess the total joint health score (TJHS) in children with hemophilia and, determine the effect of the selected therapeutic exercises in improving it. Methods: Forty male children with hemophilia participated in this study. They were assigned randomly into two equal groups: study& control groups. Their age ranged from 8 to12 years with a mean age was 10.37(+1.48) years. They were suffered from mild hemophilia type A. Children in the control group received conventional physical therapy program which include rest, ice, compression and elevation and other physical therapy modalities for each joint or muscle were affected by any bleeding occurred at any time during the study period. Children in the study group received conventional physical therapy program in addition to that; they received the selected weight bearing exercises, strengthening and proprioceptive training exercises, three times weekly for about three months. The TJHS was evaluated at start and at the end of the study period. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant improvement in the TJHS (P<0.05) at the end of the treatment period in the study group. Conclusion: the selected therapeutic exercises are highly recommended to be used in conjunction with conventional physical therapy program in rehabilitation of the children with hemophilia
